During a speech at the Suffolk County Democratic dinner that capped an afternoon of campaigning on Long Island (more on that below), Cuomo described Donald Trump as “a political scream.” The governor spoke of the need to elect Democratic legislators to prevent gridlock that the political right revels in, “or else Hillary will be right where President Obama is.” Cuomo spoke highly of Anna Throne-Holst, who is challenging Rep. Lee Zeldin, and Jim Gaughran, who is challenging State Sen. Carl Marcellino. Cuomo said he and Gaughran “go back 30 years,” and that he was part of a necessary wave to break the grip of “political hackdom” in Albany.
